What's the name of your beer blog?
What's the homepage of your beer blog?
http://thebrewclub.com
Why did you start your beer blog?
Six of us at work would exchange beers every Friday, and so The Brew Club was started to keep track of all the different beers. Quickly, TheBrewClub.com became a beer review blog and it's been going strong now since April 2008!
Our goal is to 'Expand Your Beer Horizons' as too many people seem to stick to the same beers. There are so many great beers to try, and we hope that The Brew Club inspires someone to try something new.
What do you cover in your blog?
The Brew Club does craft beer reviews, but one of our rules is that any beer can be brought in for an exchange. So, you'll see some macro-beer and 'mainstream' beer reviews as well on the site.
We also have a regular guest beer writer from England who provides a different viewpoint about beer, and I'm happy to see that our beer review blog has a pretty good mix of American and other beers from all over the world!
The Brew Club also dabbles a bit in home-brewing and topical beer stories. We try to mix it up, but somehow its all about the beer!
Advice
- For me, I didn't know much about beer and was afraid that my beer reviews wouldn't make sense to anyone. Well, if I were starting over, I wouldn't worry about that. Find your own genuine voice and use it.
- If something in the beer tastes like marshmallows, just say that. I think most people understand that better than some scientific taste description. Use terms ordinary people can relate too, not just beer geeks.
- Make friends and ask questions. I've learned so much from other beer bloggers. They are truly a selfless bunch and I'm happy to be a part of that community!
