Beer Tasting Notes and Review for Pilsner Urquell (from a can)

The Bottom Line

Beer from a can has gotten a bad rap for a long time. There's something cheap or low class presumed of beer served in or from a can. Consequently, it can be hard or impossible to find good beer or premium brands packaged this way. This is a mistake. Canned beer is protected from light and arrives to the consumer in a more "brewery fresh" state than bottled beer. So when Pilsner Urquell contacted me and offered to send some samples of their canned beer I jumped at the opportunity. I've only ever had it from the green bottles that are widely available here in the US and it is almost always skunked to some degree.

Pros

  • Full flavor

Cons

  • Canned beer stigma

Description

  • Nice, mouth filling, almost creamy lager
  • Plenty of hops bitterness - this beer won't get cloying
  • Don't dismiss it because it's in a can! Serve it right - in a glass - and it's great.

Guide Review - Beer Tasting Notes and Review for Pilsner Urquell (from a can)

The beer pours from the can with a straw color and very clear appearance. It's thick, white head is supported with a fair amount of effervescence. The aroma is pretty typical Pilsner with sweet, grainy notes. On the tongue it feels very soft and full. It's flavor is dominated by hops. Though it supported by a nice malt base hops bitterness lasts throughout the drink and lingers for a long time on the tongue.
