Guide Review - Samuel Smith's Pure Brewed Lager Beer
First impressions of this lager bring no surprises. It's color is a standard pale straw, maybe a hair darker than most Pilsners but the difference is barely noticeable. The nose carries hints of light hops and a faint graininess - again nothing unusual in the world of lagers. But the first drink brings a lot of surprise and, for this ale lover, delight. The first sip brings a bit more sweetness than many lagers deliver with maybe less hops balance than I would prefer but it's still quite tasty. The mouthfeel is unusually full, almost silky like an oatmeal stout. The finish delivers the hoppy *smack* of a good lager but a lingering sweetness stays on the tongue for quite some time.
