Is There a Happier Sight?

© Bryce Eddings

Is there a happier sight than hundreds of full beer bottles marching down a bottling line?

Redhook bottles are made of 70% recycled glass. They come prepackaged in the Redhook cases and packs from Owens, Il. Once on the line the bottles are flipped over, sanitized with ultra violet light, flipped over again, filled with beer and enough CO2 to drive out the oxygen which could lead to spoiling, then the bottles are capped. Next they are sent through the labeler in this picture, labeled, and then a stamped with the bottling date. Redhook recommends that their beer be consumed within 110 days.

Notice no mention of pasteurization? None of Redhook ales are pasteurized which I think is kind of cool because pasteurized beer is dead beer.
