This is Redhook's brew room. Starting with the kettle in the front and moving back, these are the
lauter tun, a holding tank, the brew kettle where they boil the
wort, and the whirlpool where they spin the
trub out of the wort.
Homebrewers may be wondering where the
mash tun is. Well, it is kind of crammed back in the corner where I really couldn't get a good picture of it. But if you will imagine where I am standing to take this picture, it is on my immediate right so the kettles make a giant "L."
Note the hoist right in the middle of the picture. This attaches to a safety harness that the brewers wear when they go into these 3,000+ gallon kettles for the weekly cleaning with caustic soda and food grade phosphoric acid.
