The Bottom Line

The bottle describes this beer as a "rich and hearty dark lager" and "one of the finer pleasures of a winter evening." I'd say this brew would do better with a meal than as a session beer.
Pros
  • Nice to pair with holiday meals
  • Nice, spicy hopping
Cons
  • A bit too sweet

Description

  • Full bodied Winter Lager Seasonal
  • 5.8% ABV
  • Weizenbock with noble hops

Guide Review - Samuel Adams Winter Lager - Tasting Notes and Review of Samuel Adams Winter Seas

Sam Adams Winter Lager is dark copper/amber. The nose is malty and hints of spicy hops. Its head is slightly brown, weak, and brief. The flavor is really rather bland. It has a maltiness to it and a really full mouthfeel. It finishes nicely with a good spicy whack from the hops then lingering malt sweetness. Overall, this is a nice beer. It should pair very well with the rich and spicy foods on the typical holiday menu.
