Tasting Notes and Review of Samuel Adams Longshot Old Ale

This is my kind of beer. It is based on Don Oliver's homebrew recipe which won the 2006 Longshot Competition.

This old ale pours with a thick, dense caramel colored head. It is clear with a deep amber color. Its aroma jumps up from the glass with strong, sweet notes of toffee and roasted nuts. The mouthfeel is very silky with a warming alcohol presence. Its deep, complex flavor carries notes of caramel and toffee. The flavor and complexity lingers long in the mouth. Excellent.
