The Bottom Line

This is a remarkable rich and complex brew for Sam Adams. The Boston Beer company makes some good beer but I haven't come across one with this much character.
Pros

Cons
  • Cannot taste the spices

Description

  • Seasonal - Available November through January
  • Deep, rich flavored beer - perfect for wintertime tippling
  • 5.9% ABV

Guide Review - Tasting Notes and Review of Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale

Old Fezziwig is clear mahogany in color. The head is thick, dense and rocky with a caramel color. The nose is full of roasted malt. The flavor reminded me a very good ESB. It is full of sweet toasted malt flavors with plenty of balancing hops that linger on the tongue.
