Guide Review - Tasting Notes and Review of Samuel Adams Black Lager

When Black Lager is poured it forms a dense off white head. It appears black at first in the glass but when you hold it up to the light it is a very deep mahogany. The aroma is indistinctly sweet with just a hint of malt. The flavor is what really impressed me. It coats the tongue in smooth rich flavors of dark roasted malts, leather and smoke. A malty sweetness lingers that can get a bit cloying. Some more hops balance at the end would greatly improve this brew.
