There aren't too many black lagers on the market and those you find are often water beers with only one or two flavors dominating. Sam Adams Black lager is more interesting than that and its definitely worth a taste if you come across a bottle.

Guide Review - Tasting Notes and Review of Samuel Adams Black Lager
When Black Lager is poured it forms a dense off white head. It appears black at first in the glass but when you hold it up to the light it is a very deep mahogany. The aroma is indistinctly sweet with just a hint of malt. The flavor is what really impressed me. It coats the tongue in smooth rich flavors of dark roasted malts, leather and smoke. A malty sweetness lingers that can get a bit cloying. Some more hops balance at the end would greatly improve this brew.
