The Bottom Line

Peak describes their Nut Brown Ale this way: "This beer is designed to start extremely smooth, then to finish with a crisp, distinctive "nutty" finish." I don't know if smooth is the word that I'd use but it is certainly drinkable.
Pros

Cons
  • Very carbonated

Description

  • Sour and tangy
  • Organic
  • Very drinkable.

Guide Review - Tasting Notes and Review of Peak Organic's Nut Brown Ale

The beer pours amber-brown with an average, off-white head. The nose is sweet and complex with notes of pear, fig and brown sugar. The first sip is surprisingly tangy. I'd almost call this a sour beer like Flanders brown ale. After the tang, the most notable characteristic is the beers carbonation. It is very fizzy. After dealing with these brighter aspects of the beer I did detect some roasted malt notes but they are outshone. There is a nice lingering hops bitterness left on the tongue by this brew.

The sour characteristics of this brew were very startling given that it's called a nut brown ale, typically a mild, session-type beer. But I like sour beers and quickly made friends with this one.
