The Bottom Line

Anheuser Busch keeps trying to grab a handful of the craft and imported beers market. In this case, they've taken a stab at the beloved Bavarian beer style, Hefeweizen. I give them an A for effort.
Pros
  • Nice label
  • Impressive style choice for Anheuser Busch
Cons
  • Too sweet

Description

  • Unfiltered wheat so it pours cloudy and contains some unusual aromas and flavors
  • Very sweet
  • Great style for summer-time sipping

Guide Review - Tasting Notes and Review of Michelob Bavarian Style Wheat

The nose presents notes of sweet banana. The beer pours pale yellow and cloudy. The head isn't nearly as thick as most unfiltered wheat beers. That and the average mouthfeel makes me wonder how much wheat is actually in this wheat beer. The flavor is very sweet with hints of bananas. There is none of the spiciness common among Hefeweizens. No detectable hops in the aroma or flavor.
