The Bottom Line

ESBs or extra special bitters are typically bigger versions of a brewer's pale ale or bitter beers. More malt and more hops make ESBs memorable session beers. I failed to see the special in this extra special bitter.

Pros

  • Nice fruity undertones

Cons

  • Too hoppy

Description

  • Style: ESB
  • ABV: 5.6%
  • Bitterness: Overwhelming to the flavor but not intolerable

Guide Review - Tasting Notes and Review of Harmon Brewing Brown Point ESB

The beer is light brown. A slightly fruity flavor resulting from the ale yeast is overwhelmed by the Fuggles hops that dominates this brew. There is simply not enough balancing malt to make this beer work.
