The Bottom Line

No matter how objective I tried to be about Bud Light, I simply couldn't find any reason to enjoy this beer. I tasted it second in a side by side tasting with Budweiser. After Bud I didn't think I could find a beer with even less flavor and character but Bud Light wins on both counts. In a way I suppose this is quite an accomplishment.
Pros
  • Less Filling
Cons
  • Flavorless
  • No head

Description

  • Watery and flavorless.
  • No head
  • Negligible difference, nutritionally speaking, from Bud.

Guide Review - Tasting Notes and Review of Bud Light by Anheuser-Busch

The beer poured with exactly the same pale yellow as Budweiser. But, unlike Bud, no head whatsoever formed - just a few individual bubbles that gathered loosely at the top then quickly fell away. The aroma was very light with only the faintest hints of non-distinct sweetness. The flavor was the same, mostly watery with only a touch of sweetness. There was no evidence of hops to be found anywhere.

Since this is a light beer - that is nutritionally light as opposed to the more common use of that word on this site meaning subtle in all things such as color, aroma and nose - I'll give you the nutrition comparison of Budweiser and Bud Light, according to their labels. Budweiser has 145 calories, 10.6 grams of carbohydrates, and 1.3 grams of protein per 12 ounce serving. Bud Light has 110 calories, 6.6 grams of carbohydrates, and .9 grams of protein per twelve ounce serving. So, choosing this beer over Budweiser will save you 34 calories, 4 grams of carbohydrates and .4 grams of protein. Or you could just have a regular Bud and skip that last pretzel.

By the way, no beer contains any fat. Check out my Beer and Nutrition article for more information.
