Surprisingly, there wasn't a consensus on the color of this beer. While most of the panel reported that it was black, one described it as chocolate/coffee colored while another said it was purple. The aroma was even harder to ascertain. While many reported a definite coffee and toffee nose, some tastes found hints of fruit, rye and hops. The flavor was described by one taster as attacking the tongue. Others noted strong coffee and chocolate notes as well as malt and caramel. Some noted a lingering bitterness on the tongue.
