Of Beer and Perfume

I don't know about you but one of my favorite smells is that of brewing beer. The sweet bready smell of boiling wort is a beautiful thing to behold and when the hops are added, oh, I go weak in the knees.

This has nothing to do with that.

Blue Marble Energy in Seattle is making perfume of the waste materials from nearby Fremont Brewing Company. In a process that I won't pretend to understand, Blue Marble is taking some of the by products of brewing and creating a sludge that replaces the petroleum normally used in the production of perfume. Unfortunately, the final product smells nothing like beer.

You can read more about the perfume at Blue Marble's blog.

I guess I’d have to smell the final product but it just sounds so very wrong to me!
