Homebrewing in Limited Space

By , About.com GuideSeptember 25, 2009

Follow me on:

Homebrewing beer takes up space. The typical 5 gallon kit requires hoses, buckets, special brew pots, scrubber brushes and lots and lots of at-the-ready empty beer bottles.

So what to do if your living space is less than expansive like, say, in a New York apartment? This is the problem that Stephen Valand and Erica Shea of the Brooklyn Brew Shop are trying to address.

For $30 they sell little one gallon homebrew kits which are advertised as taking up less than one square foot of space. Besides the cute little kits, they also sell premeasured ingredient kits for one gallon's worth of various styles.

I'd never heard of the Brooklyn Brew Shop until I spotted this interview with the two entrepreneurs. Sounds like a nice operation and I wish them well.
