Seasonal Beer Website

Thursday August 14, 2008
I may have tipped my hand with the title of this post but do you know what style of craft beer is the best seller in the US? It's the seasonals. Styles like Maibock in the spring, saison in the summer and pumpkin beer in autumn regularly outsell the other styles, even pale ale! The Brewer's Association has been working on a website that they call Craft Beer Throughout the Year that explores these styles. With information right from the breweries making the beer and beer and food tips it's a fascinating site. Check it out.

I ran across an awesome website earlier this week called Beer Blitz at www.beerblitz.com. This site sorts beers by category and lists both a Saison Ale and Maibock link. Right now there is only one beer in the Saison link and nothing in the Maibock link. The site says it was established in 2008 so I plan on checking it for future additions. I am not the biggest fan of the Saison Ale style but I really miss Ayinger’s Maibock. It was about my favorite beer and I have not been able to find it for some time, does anyone know if it is still available ?

I recently learned about an Oktoberfest in the Seattle area called Fremont Oktoberfest. It looks like it is going to be an amazing event. It is going to be September 19th-21st and they will be having a microbrew tasting garden with over 70 brews to taste! I learned about it from http://travel.latimes.com/articles/la-trw-beerfest10-10jun2008. It looks like something beer lovers should check out.
