Boston Beer Giving Something Back

Bottle of Sam Adams
I’ve been accused of heaping too much praise on Boston Beer Company, Samuel Adams’s brewer. Once I was even accused of being in their pocket. I swear I’m not and as soon as they stop doing good things I promise to stop praising them.

But that’s going to have to be another time thanks to this headline at boston.com: Boston Beer links with nonprofit. The brewer has made a $250,000 donation to Accion USA, a nonprofit that assists small-business owners also known as a microlender. The money will go to an initiative they’re calling "Samuel Adams: Brewing the American Dream” designed to provide assistance in the form of small loans to businesses in the food and beverage industry.

If you want to support a different brewery AND a good cause, on August 14 you can go to the Cambridge Brewing Company’s fundraiser for master brewer Darryl Gross on August 14. I don’t think there can ever be too few events celebrating beer and supporting others.
