Matt Brewing Again After Fire
Wednesday June 4, 2008
The Matt Brewing Company is one of those regional brewers that engender fierce loyalty among its fans. Their Saranac branded beer distributed to 22 states on the East Coast is well loved by beer geeks and casual drinkers alike.
Last week a fire, apparently started by some welding work, destroyed a lot of the historic brewery in Utica, New York. The damage was estimated to be at around $10 million. Hardest hit was Matt’s packaging lines but enough of the brewing equipment survived that they were able to start brewing again this week. It sounds like things are going to be a little touch and go for a while but plans are to keep the beer flowing.
