Every now and then I cross the state line to buy beer. There’s plenty of beer in my state but here in the US crossing a state border means that you’ve entered a new distribution area which means you’re going to find beer not sold in your town. This is always a dangerous time for my checking account.
Anyway, I did just that a couple of weeks ago. I wound up buying a couple of cases of beer – mostly individual bottles and a couple of six packs. I was feeling hoppy so one of the six-packs I grabbed was an IPA that I’d never heard of - Loose Cannon from Clipper City Brewing Company in Maryland. It certainly addressed my hoppy wants. Overall I enjoyed the six pack very much.
As I was looking at the packaging I noticed a little white sticker on the end of the pack that said “Support Our Returning Troops.” You can get the full details at the Clipper City Brewing Company’s website but basically the brewery is donating a portion of their proceeds to the Department of Veterans Affairs to support the rehabilitation efforts for returning veterans.
I have no commentary about this; just wanted to share the information and to say kudos to Clipper City.

This is the type of thing that is happening all over the US every day. Low key, unassuming support without the fanfare. Just what America is about: supporting our brave men and women without a big fuss. Kudos to them.
Kudos to Clipper City!
