Mixed News from Britain
Thursday November 22, 2007
I do not claim to have the pulse on the British beer scene. I get most of my information about beer in the UK from regular news sources. One headline that showed up a lot over the last week or so said that British beer consumption is down dramatically. The study was produced by a group called British Beer and Pub Association. I had a feeling that it was only telling part of the story.
Now this piece shows up in the Gaurdian that says that the study focused almost exclusively on big beer brands like Stella Artois, Carlsberg, and Carling. Real ale and small brewers are doing quite well and have even enjoyed a boom in sales while the big, mass-marketed beers continue to loose ground.
Sound familiar US beer lovers?
