Catholics Drinking Miller Again
Thursday November 1, 2007
If you haven’t been following this one – and if you’re neither Catholic nor a Miller beer fan why would you? – here’s a very brief summary. Miller bought sponsorship at the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco where Catholic imagery was used. Some vocal Catholic activists and pundits heard about it and called for a boycott of Miller. Despite an earlier apology the boycott continued until now because the boycott organizers said that Miller hadn’t gone far enough in condemning the event.
Miller now says that images, objects and activities violate its marketing policies. According to Catholic league this is the “missing piece” and they’ve lifted the boycott so Catholics the world over can drink Miller products again. Or they might try some beer with a bit more flavor. Might I suggest a Duvel?
