Singling Out Beer
Tuesday June 26, 2007
Tennessee will soon begin enforcing a law that requires vendors to card everyone wishing to buy beer. Yes, that's right: EVERYONE wishing to buy BEER. Not just those who look thirty or younger but everyone. And if they're buying an $8 bottle of grain alcohol that's just fine; the new law only affects beer.
I was vaguely aware that the law was coming. I remember seeing headlines about it when it was passed and since it goes into affect July 1 it's back in the news again. And I didn't pay too much attention to it until Jay Brooks pointed out that it only applies to beer purchases. I would rant endlessly here but Jay has already said it better than I could so check out - Tennessee Scopes Out the Future.
