Visit Your Local Brewery

Thursday May 10, 2007
Next week is American Craft Beer Week. From May 14 to May 20 the Brewers Association wants us all to celebrate craft beer by visiting our local brewery.

According to their website, most Americans now live within ten miles of a brewery. I know that that's true for me. I actually only live about 7 blocks from a brew pub.

If you're asking, "What's in it for me?" the answer is free beer and a free trip. The association is sponsoring a contest where you are encouraged to visit as many brewers as you can. Whomever stops in at the most will win a free trip this October to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. Check out their website for more information.

My favorite Local Brewery is Rock Bottom in La Jolla. I think there is also a downtown location. The beers are refershing and the atmosphere is perfect.

Good call, David. I visited Rock Bottom’s Denver location last autumn and thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a decent menu and an impressive selection of brews with some pretty good seasonals.
