Have you ever picked up a jar of “beer” mustard only to find that it’s just average mustard? I know I have. After three or four disappointments I gave up and decided that beer mustard is just one of those myths of marketers like the claim that any real beer drinker is concerned that a beer might be “filling."
Well, according to the judges at the 2006 Worldwide Mustard Competition Michael Porter’s Bumby Beer Mustard is loaded with authentic beer taste. He makes it from his own homebrewed brown ale. I’m no mustard expert but I suspect that that’s his secret. Homebrew, unlike a lot of commercial beer, is full of live yeast and according to the article that’s what works the magic in this mustard recipe.
