The Ten Beers that Every Beer Lover Should Know
Monday May 8, 2006
More than once I’ve been asked what my favorite beer is. More often than that I’m asked by friends what beer they should order. These questions always leave me stumped. I don’t have a favorite beer. I have a handful of beers that I often enjoy but what beer I’m likely to grab at any given moment is more of a matter of changing things like my mood, whether or not I’m having food with the beer, what kind of food I’m having, whether the weather is hot, cold, wet, dry, whether I’m tired and want to relax or if I’m with friends and having a lively conversation. As far as what beer other people should order, I’m almost always stumped. I know that they generally want me to introduce them to a great new beer but what’s great to one person can be swill to the next.
So, I’ve made a list. I decided that I would come up with ten beers that every beer drinker should know. These are not necessarily my favorites. Instead they are among the best representatives of their particular style that I think that most beer lovers will be able to find. So, novices, you can use this list to introduce yourself to the spectrum of beer styles available. And fellow beer snobs, you are welcome to check out my list and let me know what you think.

Hello; enjoyed your top ten beer list; thanks….However you left one out!!!
(Drum roll and Blue Spot please) CZechvar lagar. The original Bud sold as CZechvar in US. Brewed in Czech Republic, reportedly since 1299. Try it and compare. Until I found it I was crinking Urquell pilsner which was on your list. Regardless thanks for your list. Bill Q
