'Tis the season for some darn tasty beer. Here are ten annual favorites.

December Beer

Thursday December 3, 2009
This is the best month to be a beer lover. Breweries love to pull out the stops and brew their biggest, tastiest beers of the year. And every year I say this, don't I? So, instead of my usual goings on, how about we talk about your favorite December/holiday/Christmas/winter beer (or holiday beer cocktail)? Post a comment below and let us know what brews are likely to show up in your glass this year.

Czech Craft Beer

Thursday December 3, 2009
For me and probably most of my readers the idea of Czech craft beer might seem a little off. I mean, some very good beer escapes from the Republic of Czech but what gets exported is almost always their famous Bohemian Pilsner. Apparently there's more going on in the Czech beer scene than that - and the trend is growing. Check out this piece from Evan Rail about Czech beer.

Beer from a Plastic Bottle

Thursday December 3, 2009

This comes up from time to time and no doubt it makes many beer lovers cringe every time it does. Can beer be accepted in plastic? Plenty of it is served in plastic cups but I think beer packaged and sold in plastic bottles is going to have a tough time catching on even if it is shaped and designed to look like more familiar glass bottles.

The Beer Bottle Row

Friday November 27, 2009

It started when Lord Tebbit discovered some beer bottles left in front of his house. Knowing that he didn't put them there, Tebbit concluded that patrons of the nearby Queen's Head pub, only a few paces from his front door, must've left them there.

I have a neighbor who likes to flick cigarette butts into my front yard so I can understand Tebbit's frustration.

He decided to confront Joel Shepperd, the pub's manager, about the bottles. Apparently, he was rather forceful in his allegation because he felt compelled to write a letter of apology after it was proved the bottles didn't come from the pub. They were likely bought at a local supermarket that carries that particular brand of beer.

In order to smooth everything over, Shepperd offered Lord Tebbit a free pint.
